As a result of being awarded the North section of the Tyne Tunnel Project in Newcastle, Holystone Ltd approached Kocurek to design and build a small compact tunnel digging machine to be mounted onto a new JCB JZ235 zero tailswing excavator. This special JZ235 excavator is being used to extract material from the tunnel face and then pass the spoil to the Kocurek supplied telescopic dipper assembly. The telescopic dipper, mounted onto a JS460 with a 1.5 cu.m clamshell grab raises the material to the surface for removal.
